
| PCEC Summer Volunteers!! Students can become involved in environmental science thru a hands-on program where they will participate in field research, data collecting and data analysis of important environmental projects run by PCEC. Students from grades 7-12 will spend a few days helping out and working with lead scientists on important projects that address present environmental issues. Students will learn, by a hands-on approach, research skills that will challenge those students interested in scientific research, and in particularly environmental research. Students will benefit from field experience and learn useful techniques that will help them in the future. This is a great opportunity for students to step out of the classroom and get involved in environmental field research. They will be given the chance to not only develop science skills but also communication and leadership skills. | Scholarships PCEC is proud to award an annual scholarship to students who wish to follow a path of scientific research. The scholarship will be geared towards students who show an appreciation and interest in environmental research that face societies today. This award of $1000.00 will help fund the cost of tuition, supplies, books and other materials. Scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school seniors who are thinking of majoring in biological or environmental science or college undergraduates who are majoring in biological or environmental science. Students must show both good academic standing along with excelling in the scientific area. The scholarship is awarded to one deserving individual who meets both academic and personality attributes determined by transcripts and letters of recommendation. This application must be accompanied by two copies of official scholastic transcripts in a sealed envelope along with two letters of recommendation written by teachers/professors or employers/supervisors. Applications with all necessary materials must be turned into Pacific Coast Environmental Conservancy by December 1st, 2008. Good luck!! Scholarship application |
| Fellowships PCEC is proud to award an annual fellowship to a college student working with PCEC in environmental research projects. This fellowship will allow the student to be able to focus on research and analysis while going to school. Fellowships will be given once a year and fulfill a 12-month term. As a fellow you will have to opportunity to become involved in working directly with scientist conducting environmental research. You will work alongside them both in the field and in the laboratory setting collecting and analyzing data. You will have a direct impact and contribution on the research being conducted used to understand the impacts placed on our environments. PCEC is proud to present this opportunity which will allow the growth and exposure of students interested in environmental science. PCEC will continue to support scientific research in this field and will work hard to build a stronger fellowship opportunity as PCEC grows and flourishes. Fellowship eligibility: PCEC is looking for college (grad) students’ who have a specific interest in environmental science and are motivated, hard working and committed to participating in important research on environmental issues that face us today. Students need to exemplify leadership, good communication skills, critical thinkers as well as the drive to be part of environmental change that will have a positive result on the natural environment and people living around them. Candidates should have relevant work and volunteer experience and have a scientific background in the environmental science field. Academic achievement will also be taken into consideration. PCEC fellowship award will mainly focus on the merit of the candidate, however, financial need will also be taken into consideration between qualified candidates. PCEC fellowship award will provide a 12-month $12,000 award for graduate students to be allowed to focus on the research projects being studied by PCEC. The PCEC fellowship award is aimed at producing researchers who will provide leadership in the field of environmental science for future generations and for the benefit of our environment. The PCEC fellowship process is competitive and extensive and will include an extensive application, official school transcripts, resume and a review of recommendations.
